Celebrating 135 Years of Worshipping in Orange!
On April 13, 2025, 4:00pm, Faith + Works welcomes Poet Marcia LeBeau. The title of her talk is: “A Curious Hunger,” One Year Later.
Marcia LeBeau published “A Curious Hunger,” a book of poems, exactly a year ago. In this Faith+Works she will read from and reflect on the poems in her book and all that has happened in the succeeding year.

About Marcia:
Marcia LeBeau is a multidisciplinary artist. Her debut poetry collection, “A Curious Hunger,” was published in April 2024 and soon became one of Broadstone Books top-selling titles. Her poems, essays and reviews have been published in O, The Oprah Magazine; New Ohio Review; Rattle; Painted Bride Quarterly; Moon City Review, and elsewhere. She was a third-place winner of the 2023 Allen Ginsberg Award and received an honorable mention for the Rattle Poetry Prize. Her work has also received several Pushcart Prize nominations. She has an MFA in poetry from Vermont College of Fine Arts and is the founder of The Write Space, a co-working and event space for creative writers in The Valley Arts District of Orange, New Jersey. A teaching artist and violist in the South Orange Symphony, she lives in South Orange with her husband and two sons. (marcialebeau.com/thewritespacenj.com)
Happenings Around the Campus
On Saturday, March 29th, over 100 people assembled in the Sanctuary at The HUUB to celebrate the inauguration of the University of Orange’s Helen and Robert E. Fullilove Chair of Community Health. Mindy Fullilove, the first holder of the chair, received a medal honoring the occasion. Khemani Gibson, dean of the university, and Molly Rose Kaufman, director and provost, bestowed the medal on Dr. Fullilove.
The event featured speakers, including NJ Senator Britnee Timberlake, Dr. Bob Fullilove, son of Helen and Robert, and Dr. Khemani Gibson. There were live music performances by Daniella Hope, George Johnson III, and Winston Nelson, Sr. The ceremony was followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. The COUSINS art show was open during the event.
About Helen and Robert E. Fullilove:
Dr. Robert Fullilove was among the first African American physicians to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology in 1948 and at the time of his death, was the first African American President of the Essex County Medical Society. Helen Fullilove was the first African American woman to serve as the president of the Newark, NJ Board of Education and served as a member of the New Jersey School Boards Association. The Helen and Robert Fullilove Chair in Community Health will serve as an ongoing commitment to that work and will serve as UofO’s enduring promise to achieve the goals and objectives in health and education that the lives of the Fulliloves so powerfully inspired.
